Stories behind Your Profile Pictures (With Indonesian Translation)

Cerita-Cerita dibalik Profile Picturesmu 
 

Everybody knows Facebook right? Well, I guess I don’t have to tell you the definition of profile picture (PP). People having Facebook accounts show their PP. Indeed, they want to show us what actually they are, they want to tell their stories to us. Based on my observation, there are six stories behind people’s PP.

Semua orang tahu Facebook kan? Ya, saya kira saya tidak perlu lagi memberi tahu definisi dari profile picture (PP). Semua orang yang mempunyai akun Facebook menunjukan PP mereka. Ya, mereka ingin menunjukan siapa sesungguhnya mereka, mereka ingin menceritakan cerita mereka pada kita. Berdasarkan observasi saya, ada enam cerita dibalik PP orang-orang.

Before I move on, I want to tell you that the sample of PP used are mine, since I think that’s the safest way to avoid claim of misusing.

Sebelum saya lanjutkan, saya mau memberitahukan bahwa sample PP yang digunakan adalah milik saya sendiri, karena saya pikir itu adalah cara teraman untuk menghindari anggapan penyalahgunaan.

Below are the stories behind people’s PP based on my observation:

Berikut adalah cerita-cerita dibalik PP orang-orang berdasarkan oberservasi saya:

1. I am handsome / beautiful!

It is the most common story behind people’s PP. The background of this PP is plain. The focus is the owner of the account. Nothing they want to say except “I am handsome / beautiful” (though I know you say that I am not that handsome) (lol).

1. Gue tampan/ cantik!

Ini merupakan cerita yang paling umum dibalik PP orang-orang. Latar dari PP ini sederhana. Fokusnya adalah si pemilik akun. Tidak ada yang ingin mereka katakan selain “gue ganteng/ cantik” (iya-iya saya tahu kamu bilang saya ga ganteng-ganteng amat) hehe.

Warning! Sometimes this kind of PP deceives people (lol).

Perhatian! Kadang-kadang  PP jenis ini menipu orang-orang hehe.

2. I was there!

The focus of this PP is not the account owner, but the background behind them. They want to show that they went to certain place. Of course they will be glad to answer when there are people who ask “Where did you take your PP?”

2. Gue pernah kesini loh!

Fokus dari PP ini bukanlah pemilik akun, tetapi latar yang ada dibelakang mereka. Mereka ingin menunjukan bahwa mereka pernah pergi ke suatu tempat. Tentu saja mereka akan dengan suka hati menjawab ketika ada orang bertanya “Itu PPnya lagi dimana?”

 

3. I met him!

See the person beside this PP owner; she must be a famous person! The PP owner must want to make you jealous (lol). Ok, I know the person beside me is not that famous, I don't have any photo with famous people anyway. just pretend that she is a famous artist (lol).

3. Gue pernah ketemu dia loh!

Coba tengok orang disamping pemilik PP ini; dia pasti seseorang yang terkenal! pemilik PP pasti ingin membuatmu iri hehe. Iya iya. Saya tahu orang yang disamping saya tidaklah terkenal, habisnya saya tidak punya foto bersama orang-orang terkenal. Anggap saja dia itu artist terkenal. hehe

 

4. I am the part of them!

Guess what community they are in based on the PP they show. When people show not only them on the PP, that means they want to show that they are the part of certain community or they want to show that they befriend with certain people.

4. Gue bagian dari mereka!

Tebak masuk kedalam komunitas apa yang mereka masuki berdasarkan PP yang mereka tampilkan. Ketika orang menunjukan bukan hanya mereka dalam PPnya, itu berarti mereka ingin menunjukan kalau mereka adalah bagian dari komunitas tertentu atau mereka ingin menunjukan kalau mereka berteman dengan orang-orang tertentu.

5. I want to be like him! Or He is my favorite!

Geez, I think they are annoying since it's hard to identify who are the users of this PP when they ask for friend approval moreover if they use weird name such as ‘indah selalu always tidak pernah never’ (what a sophisticated name). Apart from whether they are annoying or not, I think the reason why they use other people’s pictures is because they want to be like their idols or they want to show that they are the fans of that person on their profile PP.

5. Gue pengen jadi kaya dia! Atau dia favorit gue!

Hmm, Saya pikir mereka adalah orang-orang yang menyebalkan karena saya kesulitan untuk mengidentifikasi siapa pengguna PP tersebut ketika mereka minta diapprove terlebih ketika mereka menggunakan nama alay semisal ‘indah selalu always tidak pernah never’ (benar-benar nama yang keren). Terlepas dari apakah mereka menyebalkan atau tidak, saya pikir alasan mereka mengapa menggunakan gambar orang lain adalah karena mereka ingin seperti idola mereka atau karena mereka ingin menunjukan bahwa mereka adalah fans dari orang yang mereka jadikan PP.

6. I am sad / happy / disappointed / etc    

I use this PP when I feel that nobody wants me anymore, when I think that I am the most unlucky person in the world. Childish and like a hick right? Obviously! I will not use that kind of PP anymore.

6. Gue Sedih/ Seneng/ Kecewa/ dsb

Saya menggunakan PP ini ketika saya merasa tidak ada satupun orang yang menginginkan saya lagi, ketika saya berpikir bahwa saya adalah orang paling sial di dunia. Childish dan kampungan kan? Ya ! Saya tidak akan pernah menggunakan PP seperti itu lagi.

Those are the stories behind people’s PP in my own version; please reconsider again if you want to throw protests because those are in my own version (lol).

Itu merupakan cerita-cerita dibalik PP orang-orang dalam versi saya; kalau mau protes pikir-pikir lagi ya, itu kan dalam versi saya hehe.
